As if there weren't enough problems with it as it already stood, the push for consumerism to sustain monetary circulation in the broken infinite growth model we call Capitalism made it much worse, resulting in a horrible marketplace of low quality, at times, literal garbage as further a product of a functionally vanished middle class. Don't you further just love carrying the concern of planned obsolescence for everything you buy for anything electrical, mechanical, or otherwise production dependent as far as materials go? The notion behind any of this is frankly just naive. The effectively manufactured culture of "shopping" is cancerous by its very nature. Constantly having to engage in bargaining tactics isn't fun either unless you're fiscally irresponsible or simply don't give a crap, being rich that is.
