Description:The notorious legacy of Linda Lovelace 24 Apr Lovelace was born in the Bronx, New York, and, after trying to make it as an actress in films and on Broadway, was cast in Deep Throat after one of the producers had seen her "performing" at a party. The story of a woman whose doctor discovers her clitoris is located in her throat made Lovelace an international star. The commercial activity that followed also led to a celebrated legal case in London when the publishers of a book about her experiences entitled Inside Linda Lovelace were prosecuted for obscenity. A jury found the publishers not guilty and the book quickly sold out after the trial. At the time of Deep Throat Lovelace said that "I loved it, every minute of it" but in her book Ordeal she claimed that the director, Chuck Traynor, to whom she was married, had forced her at gunpoint to perform some of the most explicit scenes.
