She initiated the Thanksgiving Service, the Kindergarten nativity tableau in the Carol Service and lobbied for, planned and initiated the Transition to School programme which is such a vital part of the school to this day. With energy and enthusiasm she produced and directed a number of Infants School musicals, writing a couple of them herself. For many years Val co-ordinated and coached T-ball, was a Tournament of the Minds facilitator and developed Speech and Drama involvement in the Bathurst Eisteddfod. She encouraged students with ability or a keen interest to develop their skills and gain certificates in Speech and Drama through external examinations.
